Section 93
Liability of Insurance Intermediaries
(1) An insurance intermediary or other insurance service provider shall keep a copy of the license clearly visible in his office: However, insurance agents or insurance surveyors who have not established an office must show their license when asked by the concerned person while doing insurance-related work.
(2) An insurance intermediary or other insurance service provider shall follow the code of conduct issued by the Authority.
(3) An insurance surveyor shall not make or cause to be assessed or survey the loss or loss of any person or organization having a financial interest in his close relative or his immediate family or any close relative of such person. (4) The insurance surveyor shall submit the survey report to the concerned insurer within the specified period.
(5) The insurance surveyor shall employ only persons who have obtained the insurance surveyor's license for the work of insurance survey.
(6) An insurance agent of one insurer shall not act as an insurance agent of another insurer of the same type during the same period. However, this provision shall not be deemed to prevent the insurance agent of an insurer engaged in life insurance business from acting as an insurance agent of an insurer engaged in non-life insurance business and an insurance agent of an insurer engaged in life insurance business acting as an insurance agent of an insurer engaged in life insurance business.
(7) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (6), an insurance agent acting in relation to micro insurance may act as a micro insurance agent for more than one insurer.
(8) An insurance broker or a third party facilitator shall not make any investment in any organized entity in which a member of its board of directors is a director or in which such member has a financial interest, or give credit to such entity or give any kind of guarantee or security.
(9) The work performed by an insurance intermediary or other insurance service provider, remuneration or commission, official conduct and other provisions shall be as prescribed.
